Paint With Me Thursday: Toys

Simply Feather

This last week really seemed to fly by didn't it? Eh maybe it was just me. So anywhoo, this weeks theme was toys. My immediate thought was to do some rendition of the boot from Toy Story

But I am in no way that talented...lol. So I took an easier route..

the reappearance of the girl and the tree..lol..I like her, she's easy to draw..in the fire are toys, a doll, crayons, coloring book..alphabet blocks..all toys from her childhood..sort of inspired by a bible verse, 1 Corinthians 13:11 which reads (depending on your version) "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man I put away childish things."

In case you can't read it, in purple in the fire it says "Dreams" and down toward the bottom in the squares it says "Good bye Yellow Brick Rd."

so that's it...

  1. What is the word by the fire? Dreams? I hope not, because that is just sad! I am stuck on that bible verse, too. "When I became a man I put away childish things?" But, why? Why would you want to do that?
Your pictures are a little too thought provoking.. for an overly analytical person like myself! : )

  2. Yes it says dreams..Why put away childish things? Well I think that as you get older the dreams, the childish things you want to cling to you can't..not really..life (in my opinion) is to complicated and difficult and you really can't hold onto those childish things...and dreams, well..you can have a thousand dreams, and you can work your butt off to accomplish them but a lot of the time no ones dreams ever come true...

  3. why can't you have your cake and eat it too? why can't you grow up, yet keep some of your childish ways in tact? like building boats out of tin foil, or painting your face with cold cream? or coloring the sidewalk with chalk? it's so important for me to maintain those simple activities, or else life just gets way too serious. go on...salvage some of those childish things from the fire and get your child on!

  4. I act like a kid on a regular basis! It's fun and it keeps me young, and happy. Don't worry. I occasionally dabble in the grownup stuff, too. ; )

  5. I'm a firm believer you are only as old as you feel. Some days I feel very old, lol. It's hard to put away those toys and grow up. The fun thing is when you are an adult you can pull the toys out again & pretend they are for your kids :)

  8. I came over from Paint with Me Thursday. I like your girl by the tree too. She seems to be smiling even though all those wonderful things are in the fire. I have been thinking a lot recently about grace and how to truly be myself with my gifts, talents, desires, and interests (the way I was created to be); and yet not be selfish. The Word also says that the kingdom is for those who come like little children (and yet children are often unkind and self-absorbed) - maybe this refers to trust and love. Anyway... I ramble... nice post.

  9. Thanks for stopping by Steph! I read something one that said something along the lines of to fully embrace your gifts you must share them with the world...give away everything you know and more will come back to you. I don't know if it has anything to do with how you are feeling, but it's an idea. I am new to the world of faith and trust and God but I'm learning as I go. so maybe you are right, maybe it means to trust and love.

thank all of you for your comments. It's nice to see the world through someone elses eyes.
