Beach Bound

Today we drove the forty something miles to the beach. It's been a while since we last went, almost four years I think since the last time we went to the beach. It was a blast...Bree was stoked, then scared after she got knocked over by a wave. There was a killer rip current, and it was cloudy for most of the time we were there, however, that didn't stop all three of us from getting burnt (even with a ton of sunscreen on). All in all it was a lot of fun. Here are some pics from the trip.

Bree on the beach!

Me, Bree & Steve

Bree asleep on the way home

a road sign announcing the way home, and the view of I-295 from the top of the Buckman Bridge.

Hey look, she's awake and has her head in the empty box of donuts we had on the way to the beach.

So, what did you do today?

is football season here yet?

Nope..not yet, but soon, my friends..very soon...

In case you missed it, Nikki LOVES football...yes, its so serious I just referred to myself in the third person. My husband and I both root for Florida teams (duh, it would be a crime not too, because, duh, we live in Florida).

However, we root for different teams. Since he is originally from Tampa, he roots for the Buccaneers (booo!) and since I'm from VA and we didn't have a pro team, so when I moved to Florida, I adopted the Jags as my favorite team. lol.

I was telling Steve today that I need to make a blanket to put over the back seat of my car to show my Jaguar pride. He made a stinky face that sort of said, "Woman, you do that and I will never drive/ride in your car again." I laughed and told him not to worry, I would make one for his Jeep in Bucs colors. He was like, oh, okay then.

I told him that we needed to get those "house divided" bumper stickers. I've seen them for Florida/Georgia fans, because, yep, it's that serious, but never for other, pro teams. So tonight, I flexed my handy, dandy googling and photoshop skillz (and yes, skillz with a 'z' cuz I'm that awesome, lol) and made my own. I'm going to order two. One for his car, and one for mine.

And it's kind of funny, I'm totally anti-bumper sticker, but for this, I would totally slap a house divided sticker on Celia's (my car) rear end.

Sunflowers & Naughty Kitties

Meet my furry child with four legs. His name is Chip and he is my animal pride and joy.

See how sweet he pretends to be?

Don't be fooled...he's just as naughty as my seven year old human child.

The other day he headbutted, yes headbutted the door so it popped open just enough for him to get out and wreak havoc. He's an inside cat, but lately he's been pretty hell bent on getting outside.

Well he successfully got out, disappeared for five minutes then reappeared in our backyard and tore through the garden I just planted. I was so angry, all my seeds were wrecked. Luckily for Chip, I bought two different kinds of seeds:

Lemon Queen
 Mammoth Russian

I planted the lemon queen in the ground, the mammoth Russians I planted in home made seedling pots (I got the idea here).

They've been outside for the last few days and today I went out to get something from the yard and decided to take a peek (even though they're supposed to take 10 - 14 days to germinate, and it's only been 5 or so...{soak your seeds for 24 hours before planting and they germinate faster...either that or its the magnificent Florida sunshine}) and they are growing!

Not all of them have come up yet, but quite a few have. I get so excited when  my plants grow...I like taking something basic, i.e. seeds, yarn, fabric, and making something from practically nothing. It's a feeling of accomplishment.

So to my bird-brained cat I say "ha ha" and to my green thumb I say "woo hoo!"

What are you  growing?

2nd Grade Broadway Review

This evening my daughter had her spring musical at school. They sang a couple of songs from popular broadway musicals. I missed the first one because my camera decided to be a reject but I caught the last few so woo hoo. Here are some pics from the show…I'm working on uploading the videos to youtube but seeing as how I'm a you tube virgin…(pauses for great gasps of horror, yes, we still exist...amazing isn't it?) So anywhoo..if they upload, great, if not..well then I'll figure it out.
